EUR 14 million for cross-border cooperation projects between Serbia and BiH

Director of the Directorate for European Integration BiH Elvira Habota and the Minister for European Integration of Serbia Tanja Miščević signed the Financing Agreement for the new IPA III Cross-Border Cooperation Programme Serbia-BiH 2021 - 2007 in Sarajevo today.  The Agreement was signed on the occasion of the Final Conference of the IPA CBC Programme Serbia – BiH 2014-2020, in the presence of the Deputy Head of the EU Delegation to BiH Adebayo Babajide.

The Agreement made available a new amount of EUR 14 million from the European Union for cross-border cooperation projects between Serbia and BiH. The support will be focused on young people and their employment, improvement of tourist capacities and joint tourist offer.

As emphasised at the conference, the successful cooperation and partnerships building have continued between Programme beneficiaries in the two countries, which resulted in 75 projects involving over 250 partners from BiH and Serbia under the IPA I and IPA II so far.

The European Union had allocated EUR 26.5 million for the Programme under the previous two IPA perspectives, and supported joint projects in the fields of environmental protection, natural disasters prevention, strengthening tourism, cultural heritage protection, etc.
