Privacy Policy
The Rules on privacy of the Directorate for European Integration are intended to provide all persons whose personal data are processed with basic information about such processing in a transparent manner in accordance with Article 14 of the Law on the Protection of Personal Data (hereinafter: the Law).
1. Purpose and legal basis for processing personal data
The Directorate for European Integration processes your personal data lawfully, in accordance with Article 8 of the Law, in fulfilment of its legal obligations for the purpose of:
- employment in the Directorate for European Integration, as well as fulfilment of obligations arising from the employment status of employees;
- the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of the official powers of the Directorate for European Integration;
- participation in training in the field of European integration;
- execution of a contract in which the data carrier is a contracting party;
- responding to a request for free access to information.
2. What are your rights regarding the processing of personal data?
- The right of access to your personal data – under this right, you may request detailed information in particular on the purpose of the processing, the type/categories of personal data being processed, including access to your personal data, the recipients or categories of recipients, and the period envisaged for storing personal data. Access to personal data may be restricted only where such a restriction is set by a special law for the purpose of respecting the rights and freedoms of other persons.
- The right to rectification of personal data – you have the right to request the correction or completion of personal data if your data are inaccurate, incomplete or not up to date. Please note that the request must specify what is inaccurate, incomplete or not up to date and in what respect it should be corrected, and it must be accompanied by the necessary documentation in support of the claims.
- The right to erasure – the exercise of this right is possible where one of the following conditions is met: Your personal data are no longer necessary in relation to the purposes for which they were collected or otherwise processed; where personal data are processed on the basis of your consent (Article 8 Paragraph (1) or Article 9 of the Law) and where there is no other legal basis for processing of your personal data; you have objected to the processing of your personal data in accordance with Article 23 paragraph (1) of the Law and where there is no other legal basis for the processing; the personal data have been unlawfully processed;
- Exceptions to the exercise of the right to erasure – for the exercise of the right to freedom of expression and information; for compliance with a legal obligation or for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of official authority of the controller; for archiving purposes in the public interest, for scientific or historical research, or for statistical purposes, in accordance with Article 56 Paragraph (1), to the extent that it is likely that the right under paragraph (1) would prevent or seriously impair the achievement of the purposes of such processing; or for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims.
- Right to object - where we process your data in the public interest or in the exercise of the official powers of the Directorate of European Integration.
3. Transfer of personal data to other data controllers
The Directorate for European Integration may disclose your personal data to a third party where this is necessary for the fulfilment of a legal obligation of the third party or where it is necessary for the pursuit of the legitimate interests of the third party. Furthermore, the Directorate for European Integration will not transfer your data to third parties abroad, except where such processing is necessary under an international regulation or agreement binding on Bosnia and Herzegovina, or where it is necessary in the context of a specific procedure regarding the protection of the right to privacy conducted by a Member State of the EU.
Your personal data will not be transferred by the Directorate for European Integration for direct marketing purposes.
4. Personal data security
The Directorate for European Integration processes your personal data in a way that ensures an appropriate level of security and confidentiality as well as the proper application of principle of lawful processing of personal data, reduction of personal data amount by applying principle of necessity, respect for retention periods, and data availability.
IT security standard ISO 27001 is applied to secure personal data. Organisational and technical measures of personal data protection have been undertaken to ensure confidentiality, integrity, availability, authenticity, possibility of revision and transparency. All the Directorate for European Integration staff have signed the confidentiality declaration regarding the personal data to which they have access.
5. Retention period of personal data
The Directorate for European Integration processes your personal data for the period necessary to fulfil the purpose of processing thereof. Once the purpose for which the personal data were collected has ceased, your personal data will no longer be used. However, they will be retained in the archives for the period prescribed by the applicable legislation on archival records.
6. Amendments to the Privacy Policy
The Directorate for European Integration will regularly update the Rules on Privacy to ensure that it contains accurate and up-to-date information. You will be duly informed of any amendments, in accordance with the principle of transparency.

7. Processing of personal data through cookies
The Directorate for European Integration respects the privacy of users of the official website of the Directorate for European Integration (hereinafter: the website) and acts in accordance with the applicable legislations on the personal data protection.
Processing of technical data
When visiting the website, certain technical data are automatically processed, such as:
- IP address,
- type of internet browser,
- operating system,
- time of access to the website.
These data are used exclusively for the purpose of:
- ensuring the proper and secure functioning of the website,
- basic statistical analysis of website visits
These data are not used to identify users and are not linked to other data.
