Bosnia and Herzegovina successfully hosted the 14th Annual Forum of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR)
The 14th EUSDR Annual Forum was held in Sarajevo on 5–6 November 2025, bringing together representatives of the fourteen participating countries, the European Commission, regional initiatives, civil society, and the academic community.
Organised by the Directorate for European Integration and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in cooperation with the European Commission, the Danube Strategy Point, and the Interreg Danube Region Programme, the Forum represented the central event of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s one-year Presidency of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region.
As an interactive platform, the Forum provided space for the exchange of knowledge, experiences, ideas, and initiatives on the following topics:
- EU enlargement and support to candidate countries
- Tackling brain drain, closing skills gaps, and reducing youth unemployment
- Education, training, and demographic change
- Green and digital transition in the Danube Region
- Cooperation within the transnational Danube Region Programme (DRP) for a more resilient, sustainable, and connected Danube Region
The first day of the Forum was marked by the Meeting of Foreign Ministers of the Danube Region, at which the Sarajevo Declaration, a joint statement of the Foreign Ministers of the Danube Region, was adopted.
During the Forum, Bosnia and Herzegovina ceremonially handed over the Presidency of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region to the Republic of Bulgaria for 2026.
The event also included a joint meeting of National Coordinators of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR) and the EU Strategy for the Adriatic and Ionian Region (EUSAIR), as well as the Annual Event of the Interreg Danube Region Programme, titled “From Vision to Cohesion: Funding Pathways for EU Integration in the Region.”
