
Director of the Directorate for European Integration at the 7th Meeting of the Parliamentary Committee for Stabilisation and Association
At the 7th Meeting of the Parliamentary Committee for Stabilisation and Association, held on 18 September2025 in Sarajevo, the DEI Director Elvira Habota briefed BiH and European parliamentarians on the current state of EU–BiH relations. She outlined the most significant activities carried out to implement the eight steps from the Recommendation of the European Commission for granting candidate status to BiH. She pointed out that the Law on Personal Data Protection and the Law on Border Control had been adopted, as well as several important strategic documents, including the Strategy on Integrated Border Management.
Director Habota also addressed the most important tasks that BiH authorities needed to implement, which were especially significant in the context of the new report on BiH and the potential proposal of anegotiating framework with BiH. She specifically highlightedthe adoption of the Law on Courts in BiHand the Law on High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of BiH (HJPC), aligned with European standards and the opinions of the Venice Commission.
“The top priorities continue to include the appointment of the chief negotiator and the negotiating team, the preparation of the National Plan for the Adoption of the Acquis, and the appointment of the national coordinator for the IPA III. Of particular importance nowis the adoption and submission of the BiH Reform Agenda to the European Commission”, Director Habota explained.
