Exchange of experiences between BiH journalists and correspondents from Brussels on reporting on the European integration process

The Directorate for European Integration, in cooperation with the Embassy of France in BiH, organised an exchange of experiences in Sarajevo today between correspondents from Brussels and journalists from BiH on reporting on the EU and the accession process.

BiH journalists and guests from Brussels were welcomed by the Director of the Directorate for European Integration, Elvira Habota, and the Deputy Ambassador of France in BiH, Stéphane Maicon.

Ivan Mijanović, permanent correspondent of Montenegro’s national public broadcaster from Brussels, and Dušan Gajić, correspondent of Republic of Serbia public broadcaster from Brussels, both spoke about European topics, ways of bringing them closer to citizens, and the challenges of reporting from EU institutions.

The event was an opportunity for journalists to learn in more detail about the results of the 2026 public poll opinion conducted by the DEI. According to the survey findings, BiH citizens most frequently get informed about the European integration process via the Internet and television. They remain most interested in the concrete effects of European integration on everyday life, the possibilities of using EU financial assistance, reforms that BiH needs to implement, and the benefits and costs of EU membership.

The resource “Success Stories”, available on the Directorate’s website, which contains data on projects funded through territorial cooperation programmes across BiH, was also presented to the journalists.

The exchange of experiences provided an opportunity for BiH journalists both to acquire new knowledge and to expand professional contacts, and it represents another step in strengthening  the partnership between the Directorate and the media in informing citizens about the European integration process.
