A seminar on communicating on the EU accession process held
A seminar on communicating on the EU accession process and accession negotiations, organised by the Directorate for European Integration, was held in Sarajevo on 19 February 2025. It brought together around 40 civil servants responsible for communication in institutions at different levels of government in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Participants were welcomed by the Director of the Directorate Elvira Habota. She highlighted the importance of strengthening institutional capacities and competences of communicators in the light of BiH preparations for opening negotiations with the EU.
“I believe that this and future activities will further strengthen our cooperation, increase the involvement of various segments of society and contribute to a better understanding on how the EU accession process affects daily lives of people,” said Director Habota.
Participants had the opportunity to hear the experiences and lessons learned from Montenegro and North Macedonia, presented by Gordana Despotović-Đekić from the Ministry of European Affairs of Montenegro and Hristina Koneska - Beroska from the Ministry of European Affairs of North Macedonia.
The topics discussed in particular were strategic access to communication, co-operation of communicators and co-operation with other stakeholders, as well as information and communication with the public on accession negotiations.
The seminar is the first in the cycle of activities aimed at communicators in the institutions of BiH, which the Directorate will implement this year.
